The Protection System for Asylum Seekers and Refugees (SPRAR)  in Italy is made up of the network of local institutions that implement reception projects for forced migrants by accessing, within the available resources, the National Fund for Asylum Policies and Services, managed by the Ministry of the Interior.

At local level, the local institutions, in cooperation with voluntary sector organisations, undertake ‘integrated reception’ interventions going beyond the simple distribution of food and housing, also providing complementary services such as legal and social guidance and support, and the development of individual programmes to promote socioeconomic inclusion and integration.

The 25th of July, in Empoli near Florence, we presented the BPE project  to the Youth workers and social workers of the SPRAR, that is managed by the municipality union of Empolese Valdelsa, Oxfam Italia, CO&SO Empoli, Misericordie di Empoli and Certaldo.

During the meeting youth workers had the opportunity also to share their practices and challenges they face in their daily work. We also visited a reception centre  where through an innovative project named "Officine Cavane" young migrants are working themselves for renovating the spaces and places where they live.
